How Moxie Started

Share

The following Letter from the Editor introduced the first Moxie Magazine in July 2008.

Of all the gifts my husband has given me, the best so far is the one he gave me on my 50th birthday.

Over a leisurely breakfast, he congratulated me on this big occasion. He told me to take the entire day and really think about what I wanted to do with my life. “Tonight at dinner,” he said, “I want you to tell me what your idea is.” Yikes! The pressure was on and I really sweated it out most of the morning worrying that I wouldn’t think of anything earth shattering. But as the day went on, I relaxed and opened my mind to all the possibilities in my life. I thought of all the things that make me the happiest – exercising, reading health and fitness books and magazines, writing in my journal. Not exactly the stuff careers are made of. Or maybe they are!

Suddenly, I saw myself working at a magazine. I ran to the computer and Googled “fitness magazines” published in my area. I didn’t find any that excited me. And then the Big Idea came to me. Create my own magazine! A health and fitness magazine for women my age – women over forty who exercise to feel good, and look good. Women who are excited to be fifty and are determined to stay healthy for another fifty years! Women who aren’t ready to retire…they’re ready to reinvent their lives!

So, hello Moxie woman! If it’s important to you, we’re talking about it...style, travel, beauty, money, life!

So read on and be inspired to be...MOXIE!
